Glamper Kitchen Remod Part III
*Making Use of Wasted Space*
Even after the rain washed us out this morning (of which we took advantage, and lazed around watching movies together and having coffee…snuggling too), this afternoon Nico was back at it again. In spite of the rain, he’s moving along. Though we’re worried that we might have a wasted piece of plywood on our hands, because the moisture in the air has left it a bit warped-looking. We are crossing our fingers, but guessing it’ll need to be replaced with a new one.
It was hard enough scrounging the funds to buy the lumber, bead-board, hardware to build the cabinets, and now we have one that is quite possibly ruined. Such is life…I guess! Especially when you have no where to work but outside. Even still, Nico is nearing the finishing stage, and I am loving his work! : ) For his first efforts at RV cabinet making, my husband is doing a great job.
One of my favorite little touches he’s added–making wonderful use of what is usually wasted space–is the roll-out pot, pan, and lid rack. Using a very narrow space between the corner sink cabinet (where it will be when he’s done) and the refrigerator, Nico customized a skinny roller trolley using very little lumber, two caster wheels (we had just laying around), and a lot of imagination and hard work.
These pics (below) show it in the unfinished stage, and he has progressed since these were taken (yesterday). It should be finished today (hoping). In the other pic is the small pantry Nico built for me in the end of the cabinet. We had thought of doing a trolley type thing there too, but it would have wasted a LOT of space. So we opted to have the door open in the end. He customized the shelving according to the grocery items we often buy. I am super excited that I finally have a pantry. The big pantry will be a later project, after our dining area is built.
Needless to say, I am one day closer to having a wonderful custom-built-for-me RV, Travel Trailer, Island Caravan kitchen. I couldn’t be happier.
Blessings & .V.. (peace) To All!
